SADDLE FOR BMW R 1250 GS

When the saddle of the BMW 1250 GS arrived in our workshop, it looked like this.

Made for our client, by a well-known company of accessories for travel and mobility on two wheels,
it was very uncomfortable for his needs right from the start.

When the saddle of the BMW 1250 GS arrived in our workshop, it looked like this.

Made for our client, by a well-known company of accessories for travel and mobility on two wheels, it was very uncomfortable
for his needs right from the start. 20220523_190350.jpg In particular, the seat had been lowered on the customer's instructions, and the passenger complained of pain in his lower back,
which hit the side handles of the metal structure.

The discomfort of the pilot, on the other hand, lay in the incorrect inclination,
which made him slide forward.

Then taking it off, we were able to check the internal conditions of the saddle.
The padding looked like this

rather grainy and easily flakes to the touch

By lifting the thin layer of finishing sponge, we were able to
ascertain that the bed for the gel had an
excavation that was thicker than the height of the gel itself

The gel used, of a very gelatinous consistency

it was not perfectly distributed over the whole seat, but "dripped"
on the sides, minimizing the thickness on the base

Finally, the embroidery was blocked with paper tape

Below, our work.

We first had to restore the initial conditions of the padding

then we filled the hole with the material we chose to commonly use for our saddles

to then dig again to insert our gel

As regards the problems complained of, we have intervened in this way: by modifying the inclination of
the pilot seat and thickening the padding of the passenger seat.

In the photo you can see how we then proceeded to cover everything with a layer of sponge

To then reupholster.

The customer had requested that the original lining be kept intact.

We were able to use the entire cover for the pilot seat and apply a small extension for the passenger seat.

Here is the result of our work.
